Welcome to the summer issue of Saltwater Boat Angling and as ever we have a great variety of articles to bring you this month.
First up we go exotic with a trip to New Zealand (P14) – a new one for us. Big game angler Joe Walker went down under to target king fish - a species we have featured before but this time it is with a difference. New Zealand has some of the most epic fishing available anywhere in the world and Joe’s trip proves it. There is such a story to tell that we have split it into two parts – the second running in the August/September issue.
Alongside this we have a report from our erstwhile launch editor, Jim Whippy, who was out bream fishing one day in May and was surprised by some big tope (P30) which moved into his fishing spot. We also report on the European Federation of Sea Anglers English Boat Championships (P26) held at the end of May and organised by John Little skipper of Manx Belle. We also pay a visit to the Mull of Galloway in the south west of Scotland. (P38)
West Wales - One of the more unusual trips I’ve done recently was to West Wales to go kayak fishing with Joe Shaw who runs a guiding business with a difference…at the end of the day he hauls on to a nearby beach and barbeques the fish…we tell the story on page 46. In addition to this we feature slow pitch jigging, visit the South West of Scotland and we review a new boat, the Tope Hunter. We also review a new boat – Topehunter – on page 50.
Marine Electronics
We also look at marine radios (P54) and how to choose the right fish-finders/plotters (P56) for your boat. This plus all the usual features, Charter Boat Reports, Your Catches, News, Analysis and Tackle Talk
