What's in the issue

Budgies loom large this week: we report from the drastically changed BS Club Show in sunny (not!) Blackpool. Plenty of good news there, not least that the best-in-show winners were the most popular for years: Alan Adams (first-time show manager of the great event) and wife Gina. Well done to them and to the BS for their bold initiative. There’s also some very good financial news from the Society. Still with budgies, we have a judge’s eye view of a fine recent colour budgie show in Cornwall, and hear from a Northern Irish fancier who’s made giant strides in his first few seasons with colour budgies (again) and numerous other birds. We have a family profile of the toucans which focuses on the smaller species (but what charisma!) and there’s plenty also for admirers of finches, waterbirds, canaries, bird names and pigeons.
