Magazine Extras:
When it comes to your Porsche’s paintwork, the pursuit of perfection can be tough, not least because of the dizzying array of car cleaning products for what can seem like an endless number of detailing processes. Which chemicals should you be using? In what order should you be using them? What are the techniques of the professionals? Answers aren’t always easy to come by.
With this in mind, we drafted in experts and pooled their know-how in order to provide you with the information you need to make cost-efficient and fit-for-purpose choices when setting out on a path leading to pristine paint and, ultimately, its protection. We’re well aware, however, that the 911 & Porsche World audience is hugely diverse, meaning detailing experience can vary wildly from one reader to the next. Consequently, starting with the basics (a guide to regular maintenance washing), we decided to create an entire series of articles focusing exclusively on car care.
We’ve dedicated thirty pages of this issue alone to the washing and decontamination of automotive bodywork, as well as our pick of products to suit different stages of the detailing process. Also, to give you something to aim for beyond a quick fix when getting busy with a wash mitt, we’ve outlined the various paint protection solutions favoured by Porsche owners and enthusiasts. Each coating has its place, but which is best for you and your car?
As the series progresses, we’ll go into increasing depth on all aspects of car cleaning, bringing in many more professionals from across the industry to provide their top tips and share best practice. We’re excited about what’s to come, especially as the autumn draws near and the need to keep on top of car care becomes more pronounced. Enjoy the magazine.

Top 3 Issue Features:
LONG-TERM LOVE AFFAIR - Mark Sumpter has owned his Carrera GT from new. He treats 911 & Porsche World to quality time with the V10-powered Porsche as he looks back on almost two decades of ownership.
GO WILD IN THE COUNTRY - The track-focused, rear-drive GT3 is the most sublime evolution of the basic 996, created using the narrow-body Carrera 4 chassis and the unburstable ‘Mezger’ 3.6-litre water-cooled flat-six. We put a Clubsport-spec second-gen model to the test.
NO SUBSTITUTE - Don’t mess about! If a particular competition model has caught your eye, or if a specific era of Porsche production turns you on, then go for it. This is precisely what Dave Lewis did — infatuated by the legendary 911 ST of 1967, he found just what he wanted in a 1981 SC backdate.
