What's in the issue

In this issue of The Great Outdoors, we go big on scrambling – that hazy but exciting middle ground where hillwalking and climbing meet, combining the freedom of the former with the thrill of the latter.
There’s the classic Snowdon Horseshoe – incorporating the head-spinning Crib Goch – on p32, and the more esoteric delights of Lakeland gill scrambling on p40.
We’ve also devoted our Wild Walks section to 10 of the UK’s greatest scrambles within the grasp of competent hillwalkers (p92), whilst our special expanded skills section is chock full of advice that should offer something to both beginners and experienced scramblers wanting to tackle sterner stuff (p62).
