What's in the issue

December’s issue of Tractor & Machinery magazine is packed with an unbeatable mix of content for vintage, classic and modern classic tractor enthusiasts. Pride of place goes to a Massey Ferguson 300 Series 40th anniversary spotlight – the ‘back to basics’ 1980s range of tractors that proved to be such a sales success. But we’ve also got a major report from this year’s British National Ploughing Championships, which took place in Warwickshire, plus a look back at the superb collection of vintage machinery gathered at one of the summer show highlights, the Welland Steam & Country Rally. Tractor restoration fans will marvel at Bob Davies’ 1967 Nuffield 10/60. For a first-time effort, this fine example will certainly take some beating. We’re paying tribute to one of the unsung heroes of farms everywhere, the tipping trailer, and visit Shropshire to check-out a 1973 International 454 that’s still undertaking light duties for its enthusiastic owner. Our Modern of the Month is the John Deere 6600, the popular Farming Memories regular focusses on sugar beet harvesting this time, and we report on the poignant John Baker Memorial Tractor Run, which took place in West Sussex, back in early August. As usual, readers can enjoy all the latest news from in and around the vintage and classic tractor hobby, another generous helping of restoration hints and tips in the Workshop section plus literally 100s of bargains to be found in the magazine’s enormous classified section.
