Classic Porsche goes Targa-tastic with a selection of standout semi-open-top 911s, plus a superb flat-six-converted 914. Kicking off proceedings is one of what's thought to be only thirty-six right-hand-drive Carrera 2.7 MFI Targas. We spend quality time with this not-so-mellow yellow 911 before heading to Malta and sampling a 911 S 2.4 Targa. Along the way, we examine a last-of-the-line 993 Carrera Targa and, as mentioned, get up close and personal with a well-known 914 owned by automotive author, Roy Smith. Additionally, Editor Furr spends a couple of weeks in charge of a restored 1972 911 E 2.4, we attend the inaugural Air|Water show in Costa Mesa, plus we chart the competition career of the 356 responsible for kick-starting the competition career of two-time Formula One champion, Jim Clark.
